D.C.

I'm off to D.C. for a long weekend to visit my old room mate Kelly. Looks like the weather is going to be a bit lousy and I'm trying to get rid of a rather tenacious sore throat, but I'm still quite excited and looking forward to a little escape. Might see a few of the famed cherry blossoms if I'm lucky and go to my fave brunch spot from the last time I was in town, Clyde's

D's New Digs

So my friend Deanna is (finally) moving across the river to lovely Fort Greene, Brooklyn. She'll be just a short train ride away from my place and she found a pretty amazing, charming apartment. (Above are pics of her new place as occupied by the former tenant. That fireplace has so much potential! Not to mention the floors.)  So over the next few months, I've decided to document her move and the design process which will hopefully completely transform her abode. Her design style is "clean with just a touch of drama/romance", which I think is lovely and will totally fit this space. I'm really excited to help her out and take on a new project. I'm doing some research now and will hopefully have some ideas/photos/points of reference to share soon.

Enjoyable: Vintage Maps

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been crazy about maps. I remember spending a couple days in our basement routing through 20 years of issues of National Geographic my grandparents had given me and pulling out lots of different maps. I was also been known to study a road atlas for no particular reason other than enjoyment. Heck, I'll still look up things on Google Maps for fun.

So I was checking out Ebay today and I found all these old maps from NatGeo. Hmm tempting. Here.

Also, I kind of want this lot of old Ohio maps. Here

Toteworthy

A tote bag is a really functional, good looking bag to carry anytime of the year, but especially in the spring and summer. Here are a few of my favorites.

1.  Grain Leather Captain Tote, Jack Spade

2. Tote Bag with Zipper, Filson

3. Hunter's Tote Bag, L.L. Bean

4. Medium Zipper Tote, J Press

5. Nickelby Coated Cotton Tote, Ally Capellino

6. Rubberized Montauk Tote, J Crew

Enjoyable: Kelly returns!

Kelly Clarkson is (finally) back with a new album, and might I say I am definitely LOVING it! This is the Breakaway Kelly I know and love...guitar driven power pop about sticking with a guy who's a big ole' mess, or telling them to kiss off, or asking them whyyawannabringmedown? Nobody does it better than Kelly! Album highlights for me are "Cry" "Don't Let Me Stop You" "I Do Not Hook Up" and off the deluxe edition "The Day We Fell Apart." There are definitely some filler tracks on the album, but when Kelly gets it right....its sooo right.

Ughhh

We got a big dumpload of snow here in NYC. This was this scene this morning in Brooklyn. Thus, I have been hanging inside.
