I forgot to post about this after my visit last week, but for anyone in NYC, it is definitely worth checking out the exhibit "Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary" at the Museum of Arts & Design. Artists have taken ordinary everyday objects and transformed them into pretty amazing works of art that are quite painstaking and exquisite. A few examples below. Note: Museum is "pay what you wish" Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
Susie MacMurray, A Mixture of Frailties
(this is a dress made entirely of yellow rubber gloves turned inside out!)
Stuart Haygarth, Spectacle
(chandelier made of eyeglasses)
Pablo Rienoso, Spiralthonet
(a spiral of Thonet chairs, which extends
through the ceiling of one floor to the next)
