The Creme de la Creme!

I just watched the wonderful film The Prime of Miss Jean BrodieI have not seen a lot of Dame Maggie Smith's films (Sister Act and Sister Act II, anyone?), but let me say this is her at her best. She plays an unorthodox, wildly exuberant teacher "in her prime" at a girls school in Scotland in the 1930s who has some strange teaching ideas and is adored by her students, the Brodie Girls. "I am in the business of putting old heads on young shoulders and all my pupils are the creme de la creme!"  The scenery and costumes are really terrific as well.

And look at the movie poster!

Consider: Gallery Walls

I love a gallery wall grouping of art, especially when it is a total mix of sizes, mediums and frames. Here's some nice examples:

Consider: Apartmento

Apartmento is "an everyday life interiors" mag.  Says one of the editors, "Apartmento is there to capture the moment in liufe you start living in your own home and you want it to reflect your own personality." I quite like the sound of that. Not available in the US just yet, but I'd like to get my hands on the new issue.

Julia

So I was watching the last hour of Legends of the Fall yesterday with my friend D, and might I say I was completely captivated by Julia Ormond. She literally took my breath away everytime she appeared on screen. She was sooo exquisite playing an unhappy, broken woman in early 20th century Montana. Her skin, her face, the costumes, her eyes, her eyebrows! I think I am strangely captivated by women with pale skin, dark hair and thick eyebrows. Kind of like this beauty:

Or Hilary Rhoda, probably my favorite model ever.
