Shakers

The purity and simplicity in Shaker design, along with the drive for perfection in all things they created is truly fascinating to me. The Shakers left behind some amazing works, the Round Stone Barn at Hancock Shaker Village (top image) among the most impressive. Would love to visit someday.

Brooklyn based furniture retailer Sit & Read has collaborated with fashion label Unis on a series of vintage chairs covered in fabric from Unis' Spring collection. What a great concept and some very good looking chairs.

Nightwood

Nightwood is a really unique business based in Brooklyn that creates reconstructed furniture and textiles made of salvaged materials. Couches, chairs, credenzas, dressers, benches, shelving...all really beautiful work! It's Rough-hewn meets refined.

Wrapped Up

No Way! Furniture that looks like brown paper packages!  The "paper" is actually fabric and the package itself is made of soft foam. This is totally amazing. I would love to see these used as auxiliary seating in a modern space or even as an ottoman or coffee table.

Dressers

So I've been looking for a dresser on craigslist and I'm not having much luck. (There are so many ugly ikea dressers to sift through!) I did find this beaut though.

This is really more of a credenza, but I quite like it. At $275, it's way over my budget though. Drat.
